Have you ever met someone and thought that your life would forever be different from meeting that person. Well, I happen to have met a couple, Jason and Denise Steele, who have changed my outlook on life...for the better. I met Denise and Jason on Twitter. Some of you may know the wonderfulness that is Twitter and some of you may look on it in disdain, but I have found some pretty awesome friends on twitter. Denise and Jason have encouraged me, made me laugh, made me cry, and made me want to visit southern Oregon again very soon. But enough about me...onto their story.
Jason and Denise met like any normal couple...on the internet. The fell in love, got married, moved into a castle in a faraway land, and lived happily ever after. I mean that's how things work right? Well, not exactly for this darling couple. They did fall in love and they did get married. But just about two weeks shy of their first anniversary of married bliss, cancer came like a thief in the night. Jason was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I could tell you about it, but he does a lot better job himself,
here. You can read Denise's take on the situation,
here. And if you can do it without crying at the end, you're a stronger person that I am. Jason and Denise handled the cancer like the amazing people that they are. Every six months they handled the tests and the scans and the waiting on pins and needles.
And then, recently, they thought hey, let's have a baby already (because seriously, they will be the most awesome parents ever). The doctor ran some tests to check Jason's sperm count...and just like that, their dreams of having a baby were crushed. Again, I think Jason tells the story much better,
here and
here. And once again, Jason and Denise didn't let this news keep them down. They have faith that there is a plan for their life and they didn't let this news cause their faith to falter one minute. Their hearts are so full of love that they decided right away that they would adopt.
And this is where we come in...since the cancer knocked out most of their savings and since adoptions aren't cheap, I thought, hey, I should do something for them. And now I am. I have set up this ChipIn page so that not only can I help them, but so can you. There is no minimum that you can donate, any amount is appreciated. Jason and Denise are going to be amazing parents. They are already amazing friends.
